Jacksonville Fire Fighter Smoke Detector Program

Jacksonville's Fire Fighters are offering smoke detectors to families and neighborhoods in an attempt to curb fire related deaths in Jacksonville.  It is a proven fact that a properly functioning smoke detector saves lives.

The winter of 2010 saw abnormally harsh wintry conditions, which can be attributed to the rise in fire related deaths.  In a majority of these cases, a smoke detector was either not found or not properly working inside the household.
