St. Baldricks- Head Shaving For Pediatric Cancer Patients
Each year, 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Cancer is the number one disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada. The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.
Jacksonville Fire Fighters participated in their first St. Baldricks event in May of 2010 at Nemours Childrens Clinic. Over 40 fire fighters showed up and raised $20,000 for the event. They enjoyed it so much that in 2011, they are hosting the event and bringing in even more fire fighters.
The 2011 St. Baldricks event will be held Saturday, September 10th, at the Jacksonville Landing. Start time is 10am. To participate in this event, check out the Jacksonville Fire Fighter team page.
In addition to the event at the Landing, The Jacksonville Fire Fighters will be donating Firefighter Hall to St. Baldricks for a Zoomba event on Friday August 5th. For more information, contact Sarah Phipps at (904) 654-6632.
